8bit Trap played live on a nanoPAD2 | Finger drumming Trap

Here’s another performance I did with Ableton Live Intro, a nanoKONTROL, and nanoPAD2 control surfaces. For this one I wanted to combine a Trap style beat with Chiptune / 8bit styles. I used some lofi 808 samples with some bit reduction and the dream64 plugin, which you can download here http://demonicsweaters.com/2015/03/free-chiptune-vst-fantastic-sid-inspired-free-plugin-for-windows/ To get the rolling on the hi hat and blips I used the arpeggiator plugin in Ableton.

This one was pretty hard which is why I kept it short to actually be able to play it smoothly. Hope you like it! If you do, please subscribe to my Youtube channel and click like!

Free Chiptune VST | Fantastic SID inspired free plugin for Windows!

I’ve tried several different 8 bit / chiptune / SID style plugins and I have to say that Dream64 by OdoSynths is one of the nicest ones I’ve tried. Dream64 is a wavetable synthesizer with a built in step sequencer and LFOs. The sound of it is quite great. Very much like old SID sounds.

I tested it out on Ableton Live and EnergyXT and it works great on both. My only gripe with it is the GUI interface is a bit too large in my opinion since the bottom of the plugin doesn’t fit on 1366×768 my screen. Still not much of a problem since I can access most of the controls.

It comes loaded with a ton of great presets. Many great drum sounds, fat basses, and very cool sounding lead patches. Definitely an essential plugin to have.

Free download of an album made on NES and Sega Master System

sega master system

The Sega Master System, pictured above, and the NES were used in the creation of this album from little-scale. There’s no details as to how exactly he used them on the recording, but maybe there’s some more clues to that on his youtube channel.

Anyway, it’s a really cool album that is on the more abstract, experimental side of chiptunes, 8 bit music. Check it out here or my mirror here if that download doesn’t work.
