Akai MPD24 Fingerdrumming – Panaphonics, the VHS-c Chronicles – Geeky Gigs #14

#14 of Geeky Gigs and more Vaporphonics. Ableton Live Intro with MPD24 on a single drum rack. Cut up some samples, added fx, played quite a bit with the grain delay in Ableton for this one. Recorded with my old Panasonic VHS-c cam and then cropped to HD in Vegas.

Free Finger Drumming Lessons with the master, Jeremy Ellis

If you’re just getting started playing pads, these videos can be of great help. They helped me quite a bit. Even if you already play, there’s some great techniques shown in Jeremy’s vids. If you’ve never seen Jeremy Ellis play pads, it is truly a sight to behold. He is seriously one of my favorite “drummers” right now.

If you’re looking to buy a pad controller, I recommend the Akai MPD26 below. They’re very affordable and very well made. I have the 24 which is very similar but no longer being produced.

Akai MPC vs Bollywood! DNABeats slices it up with an MPC 2500!

I stumbled across this video today and thought it was worth a share. The samples DNABeats pulls from this old Bollywood record are pretty amazing. He also manages to fly though the editing process on the MPC 2500 rather quickly and skillfully. It just shows why that machine and other MPC variants have been the sampler/sequencer of choice for those that know how to use them for many many years.
